Paul Terrell - The practice and teaching of yoga

200 Hour Yoga Alliance Accredited Teacher Training

 Yoga Teacher Training Course Description

Our Yoga Teacher Training  is a transformative and immersive program designed for individuals who are ready to deepen their yoga practice, gain a profound understanding of yoga philosophy, and become skilled, confident, and compassionate yoga teachers. This comprehensive course provides a well-rounded education in the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of yoga, preparing you to lead classes with authenticity and knowledge, while cultivating mindfulness and self-awareness in both yourself and your students.

Whether you're looking to teach yoga professionally or deepen your personal practice, this training is a journey of self-discovery, growth, and empowerment. The curriculum blends alignment-based asana, breathwork (pranayama), meditation, philosophy, anatomy, and teaching techniques, giving you the tools to create and lead safe, inspiring, and effective yoga classes for students of all levels.

Key Highlights:

  • Asana & Alignment: Master key yoga postures (asanas) and learn how to teach them safely with proper alignment and modifications. Understand how to adjust your students and provide hands-on assists.
  • Pranayama & Breathwork: Deepen your understanding of pranayama (breathing techniques), learning how to guide students in controlling and using the breath to enhance their practice and cultivate inner peace.
  • Yoga Philosophy: Study the foundational texts of yoga, including the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, to explore the philosophical and spiritual roots of yoga and how to incorporate these teachings into your classes.
  • Anatomy & Physiology: Gain a thorough understanding of human anatomy and physiology as it relates to yoga. Learn how to work with the body’s structure, function, and limitations, and understand the physiological effects of yoga practices.
  • Sequencing & Class Design: Learn how to create dynamic, well-structured yoga sequences that flow with purpose and intention. Develop the skills to teach a variety of class styles, including vinyasa, hatha, restorative, and more.
  • Mindfulness & Meditation: Discover how to integrate mindfulness and meditation techniques into your yoga teaching to help students cultivate mental clarity, focus, and emotional balance.
  • Teaching Skills: Gain practical teaching experience with real-time feedback. Develop confidence in instructing, guiding, and motivating students, and learn how to adapt your approach for different learning styles and abilities.
  • Yoga Ethics & Lifestyle: Explore the ethical principles of yoga, including the yamas and niyamas (the moral guidelines), and how to live a balanced, mindful life both on and off the mat.

Upon completion of this teacher training, you will be fully prepared to teach yoga with expertise, compassion, and clarity. Whether you plan to teach full-time, part-time, or simply deepen your personal practice, this program will equip you to share the transformative benefits of yoga with others and inspire students on their own journey toward physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual growth.

Join us for this life-changing experience and become part of a supportive community of teachers, practitioners, and seekers, committed to the practice and sharing the profound wisdom of yoga.

100 hr Yin Yoga Teacher Training

In this 100-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training course, you will learn the techniques of yin yoga in a way that will allow you to share this practice with others. We will explore the theory behind yin yoga, illustrating the physiological, energetic, and psychological benefits. You’ll also dive deeply into the practice, learning how to safely do yin yoga as well as teach it to others.

This is a Functional Anatomy training which goes beyond the basic information about anatomy and physiology offered in basic Yoga Teacher Trainings. Investigations will include determining your range of motion, what stops you from going further and whether it is a good idea to try to go further in certain areas. For teachers, the training will help you educate your students on their uniqueness and how to determine what works best for them, rather than being told what they can and cannot do.

The term “functional” is used to contrast this approach to instructions and alignment which focus on “aesthetics,” which is a pre-conceived notion of how people should look rather than what actually works for them.
